-Sleep. Sleep a lot. Sleep in. Who cares if you have to wake up and go to the bathroom 5 times a night? Go back to bed and enjoy it.
-Stop reading all of those websites and books about labor and delivery. There's not much to know. It's going to hurt, your doctor will yell push, you will push......hard, and a baby will come out. Not exactly a science people.
-Instead of reading the labor and delivery books pick up one called "What to do with this thing when you get home" because that is what you will REALLY need to know.
-Take the swaddles out of the package and read how to use them before having the baby. Trying to figure it out with a crying baby will not bode well. Especially if you try to stick his arm in the foot hole and vice-versa.
-Learn how to use your breast pump (or at least put it together) before the baby arrives. Thank the Lord my sister in law came in town a couple days after Landon was born to help me put it together. There's 25 pieces, tubes, connectors, etc. The only obvious piece is the breast shield. The rest is one big puzzle.
-Buy whatever you want for yourself because soon you will not have any money.
-Go out and show off those maternity clothes and that big belly, because never again will you be so proud to have extra pounds around your waist.
-Buy baby some cute outfits, it's a must. However, plain onesies are just as valuable, and when he's on his 4th outfit of the day you won't care what he's wearing or if he matches.
-Start practicing doing things with one arm. You'll need this skill sooner rather than later.
-Get ready to do something in which you have no experience. It's exhausting, fun, frustrating, and rewarding all at the same time!
so very true
