Have you ever been to a bookstore and looked at the area labeled "Parenting"? Hundreds of books, all promising to be the answer to all of your parenting questions. So tell me this: If there are 10 books on getting your child to sleep through the night, and they don't all recommend the same practices, who are you supposed to believe? I spent so much time researching methods online, reading blogs, and trying to figure out who I "believed most" to get Landon to sleep through the night. After several techniques didn't pan out exactly as the book advertised (surprise), I decided to adopt my own method. It's called
trial and error.
I've tried this very scientific method on many occasions. Here are a few I was able to portray through pictures.
The K'Tan, though we've only had it a week, has been full of fun new positions to try! Those of you who have one may not approve of the picture below, but don't worry, I only "test" it out at home. They give you a booklet of sample positions when you buy it, I should find that.....
We also discovered the joy of the swing. Landon finds it really fun when he is buckled in and can't squirm his way out of it!
Sleeping has been another ball game that we are still working at. He is sleeping awesome at night in his swaddle, but nap time is not our favorite. Our most recent discovery may be that he is a tummy napper. At least it's worked today, we will see about tomorrow!
For those of you who look at the above pictures and stories and worry about Landon's safety, don't, he's fine! I really just post these pictures and stories to make the rest of you feel like Mom of the Year. Actually you probably feel like Mom of the Century. I also take these pictures to look back the next day and make myself laugh.
Whether I know what I'm doing or not, Landon's shirt says it all:

We let Phinehas sleep on his tummy too. Sometimes you just gotta make an educated decision and trust your gut! My gut said to let him sleep on his gut!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I honestly hadn't even considered letting him sleep on his tummy because everyone tells you not to. Then you said that Finn is a tummy sleeper and that made me consider it. On Monday he was fighting his nap and screaming, so I took him out of his crib and laid him on his tummy while I was folding laundry and he fell asleep. I do feel like he doesn't sleep as long on his tummy, but we will see what happens today!
DeleteI say you are learning this mommy thing much quicker than I did! AND I think you should have a t-shirt that says, "I am the BOSS and the BOMB!"
